The Role:
We are seeking a skilled, passionate and reliable Chef to join our elite team. This is a full-time role, ideal for a motivated professional committed to culinary excellence and operational leadership. You'll play a key role in shaping and delivering Zahli’s high-end food experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and cooking our signature, seasonal and complex dishes, and overseeing the pass during service to ensure every dish leaving our kitchen meets the standard we set;
- Planning, developing and maintaining the Zahli Restaurant menus: à la carte, banquet, function and seasonal so that they align with our brand and meet the expectations of our guests;
- Creating, standardising and documenting recipes and specifications, including the in-house preparation, curing and preserving of traditional Levantine components such as labneh, makdous, shanklish and pickles;
- Demonstrating cooking techniques to kitchen staff on the line and advising them on cooking procedures;
- Supervising the quality of dishes at every stage of preparation and presentation, and performing frequent checks to ensure the highest standard of food quality, hygiene and safety;
- Examining and discussing food preparation issues with management and with kitchen and waiting staff, and collaborating with management on the planning of menus and special dishes;
- Estimating and controlling food and labour costs, costing the menu, managing the kitchen budget and profit and loss, and monitoring and analysing financial performance including cost control and waste management, and implementing corrective measures as required;
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, and overseeing the ordering and procurement of food supplies to ensure the timely and quality delivery of ingredients and other necessary resources;
- Managing and supervising all kitchen operations and departments, including staff scheduling and rostering, inventory management, stock control and stock rotation, and quality control;
- Selecting, recruiting, onboarding, inducting, training and mentoring a team of skilled kitchen staff, including the provision of formal and on-the-job training and development, and managing their performance;
- Explaining and enforcing food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements, ensuring that all staff operate equipment within safe operating procedures and use appropriate PPE, and conducting regular and ongoing safety training;
- Operating and ensuring the continuous checking, maintenance and safety of commercial kitchen equipment and facilities;
- Researching and developing new dishes and seasonal specials, including conducting menu tastings prior to release; and
- Responding to and resolving food-related guest feedback, and driving our culture and values by leading by example.
About You – Skills & Qualifications:
· Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Chef or in a related field in a commercial kitchen
· AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, or equivalent
· Experience in Middle Eastern cuisine is highly regarded
· Strong command of written and spoken English
· Food safety and hygiene certification
· Fine dining or high-end restaurant experience
· Excellent attention to detail and time management
· Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
· Positive, can-do attitude with strong leadership and team spirit
· Customer-focused, reliable, and self-motivated
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Must pass a police check
