Saunders International is seeking an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson to join our Design & Drafting team at our head office in Rhodes, Sydney.
About the Role
As a key member of our multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll support the design and delivery of mechanical projects within the fuel, chemical, water, mining and Defence sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects while developing your technical skills in a collaborative environment. Work involves construction of new and maintenance of existing tanks and associated mechanical and structural infrastructure.
You'll be responsible for preparing accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings and models, working closely with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure deliverables meet project specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare 3D models, detailed engineering and fabrication drawings using AutoCAD/Plant3D/Inventor

Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and support project documentation

Provide technical oversight and checking of drafting deliverables

Liaise with fabrication teams to ensure designs meet specifications

Support projects from feasibility through to detailed CAD design

Maintain accurate drawing records and support CAD standards improvement
Essential Requirements
-
Trade Certificate / Degree in Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline

3+ years' experience with AutoCAD/Plant3D/Inventor or related 3D engineering design software (lower experience levels will be considered)

Experience in SMP & Tank engineering design within heavy brownfield industries, preferably oil and gas

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
