CCP - Your Local Discount Chemist is a community pharmacy located at 259 Beamish Street, Campsie NSW 2194. The pharmacy provides a complete pharmacy service to local customers and supports regular medicine supply through DAA/Webster packing. The role operates in a busy dispensary and retail pharmacy environment, requiring careful workflow coordination between DAA packing, stock control, customer contact and pharmacist supervision.
About the Position
The purpose of the position is to support CCP pharmacists by preparing accurate and timely Dose Administration Aids (DAAs/Webster packs), assisting with prescription preparation and medicine supply under pharmacist supervision, maintaining dispensary stock and supporting customer service. The role is central to CCPs medication-packing service for shop customers, nursing home customers and group home customers, where accuracy, documentation, hygiene, privacy and escalation to pharmacists are essential. The Pharmacy Assistant will work direct and indirect supervision by registered pharmacists including pharmacist final checks for medicines and DAAs as required by CCP procedures.
Some of the duties and responsibility are not limited to:
- Prepare medication packs accurately and efficiently using current prescriptions, medication profiles, medication administration charts and pharmacist-approved instructions.
- Use WebsterCare and BestMed DAA systems as trained to support accurate patient profiles, packing instructions, labels and records.
- Check medicine name, strength, dose form, quantity, timing and packaging instructions against the approved source information before and during packing.
- Identify and escalate unclear orders, medicine changes, ceased medicines, PRN medicines, fridge items, Schedule 8 items, split/crushed medicines or other special cases to the pharmacist.
- Maintain a clean, organised and interruption-controlled packing area to reduce error risk.
- Complete records, sign-offs and incident/error documentation in accordance with CCP procedures.
- Support final pharmacist checking and pack release processes.
- Assist with preparing and labelling prescription medicines under pharmacist supervision.
- Refer prescriptions, medication-related questions and counselling needs to the pharmacist.
- Maintain and update patient and packing records as directed and within privacy requirements.
- Assist with day-to-day dispensary workflow, including prioritising urgent items and communicating delays or issues to the pharmacist.
- Receive, unpack and store dispensary stock and pharmacy supplies safely and securely.
- Monitor stock levels required for DAA and dispensary supply; assist with order preparation and follow-up of unavailable stock.
- Rotate stock, check expiry dates and report short-dated, damaged, returned or recalled stock as required.
- Maintain appropriate storage conditions, including separation/security of medicines where required and escalation of cold-chain or high-risk stock issues.
- Greet and serve pharmacy customers professionally and respectfully.
- Operate POS and assist with payment processing, receipts and routine customer transactions.
- Answer routine questions about pharmacy services, DAA collection/delivery timing and non-clinical product information within role scope.
- Communicate with nursing home and group home staff about supply logistics, missing information or service queries, while referring clinical questions to pharmacists.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy when discussing patient or resident medicines.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Certificate III or IV in Community Pharmacy, Community Pharmacy Dispensary, Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support, or a comparable overseas pharmacy/pharmacy technician qualification (depending on the applicable visa pathway).
- Previous practical experience in a pharmacy or dispensary environment involving medication handling, prescription support, DAA/Webster packing, stock control, pharmacy software and customer service.
- Demonstrated experience preparing Dose Administration Aids (DAAs)/Webster packs is highly desirable and will be strongly regarded.
- Experience using pharmacy and DAA software systems such as WebsterCare and BestMed, or the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
- Sound understanding of medication handling procedures, including medicine strengths, schedules, storage requirements and dispensary workflows.
- Ability to accurately prepare medication packs in accordance with prescriptions, medication charts, dose changes and pharmacist instructions while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Experience assisting pharmacists with prescription preparation, labelling and dispensary workflow under pharmacist supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and numeracy skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) precisely.
- Understanding of pharmacy compliance requirements, including privacy obligations, infection control procedures, workplace health and safety requirements and incident reporting processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with pharmacists, customers, nursing homes, group homes and other healthcare stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, reliability, discretion and the ability to manage competing priorities under time constraints.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organised and safe dispensary environment and supporting high standards of patient care and customer service.

Pay: $69,900.00 – $89,900.00 per year
