Department: Corporate Services
Reports to: Manager Corporate Services
Salary Range: $74,512 - $86,595 per annum + superannuation
Parental Leave Contract - up to 18 months
Be the friendly face of Council and help make things happen!
Are you an experienced customer service professional who loves helping people, solving problems and making sure things get done? We’re looking for a Customer Service / Systems Support Officer to join our team on a parental leave contract of up to 18 months. As one of the first points of contact for Council, you’ll play an important role in providing a positive experience for our community — whether you’re helping someone face-to-face, answering a phone enquiry, responding to an email, processing a payment or helping a customer navigate Council services. We’re looking for someone confident, organised and genuinely people-focused who enjoys being busy and takes pride in delivering great service.
While customer service is at the heart of this role, you’ll also have an important role behind the scenes supporting Council’s customer service and records management systems. You’ll help maintain accurate databases and records, troubleshoot system issues, assist staff with digital systems and provide guidance and training where needed. You’ll also contribute to improving the way information is stored, managed and accessed across Council. You don’t need to be an IT specialist, but you do need to be confident with technology, quick to learn new systems and someone others can rely on when they need a hand.
This is a role for an experienced customer service professional. You’ll need excellent communication and people skills, confidence dealing with a wide range of customers, strong computer skills and the ability to stay calm and solution-focused when things get busy. You’ll also need a high level of attention to detail, particularly when processing payments, maintaining records and handling confidential information. Experience supporting business systems, providing training or working with customer management or records systems will be highly regarded, as will previous experience in local government or the public sector.
You’ll be joining a fun, vibrant and friendly team that is genuinely focused on providing great service to the community and supporting each other. We’re looking for someone who is positive, proactive, helpful and willing to have a go — someone who can work independently but also enjoys being part of a team. If you’re an experienced customer service professional who is confident with technology, enjoys helping people and is ready to take on a role with variety and responsibility, we’d love to hear from you.
