The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Digital Mission Lead who is accountable for identifying, prioritising and delivering high-value digital initiatives that support Vocus' strategic objectives and Digital First Customer Strategy.
The Digital First strategy is a priority Value Creation Lever in Vocus, focused on digitising high-volume sales and service interactions through a consistent digital experience that is stronger than assisted channels and competitive with market alternatives.
What you'll be doing
As the Digital Mission Lead, you'll be responsible for identifying, prioritising and delivering strategic digital initiatives that improve customer experiences, optimise business performance and support Vocus' growth ambitions.
Working within a matrix delivery model, you'll lead a mission team comprising digital, technology, product and business stakeholders, ensuring initiatives are aligned to strategic priorities and deliver measurable value.
The Digital Mission Lead acts as the voice of the customer and the business, balancing customer experience outcomes, commercial priorities and strategic objectives.
You will work within an agile framework and are experienced in cultivating collaboration, innovation, customer focus, continuous improvement and psychological safety. Strong senior stakeholder management across multiple sponsors and business unit areas is foundational to success in the role.
Reporting to the General Manager Digital Experience and Agile Practices, this first-line people leader directly manages digital delivery and analysis capability as required and holds matrix management responsibility for Mission Team members.
You will be responsible for:
Strategic Alignment & Stakeholder Leadership
- Work with Mission Sponsors and across the executive stakeholders to define and communicate the vision, strategy and direction of the Digital Mission Team, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, digital priorities and agreed Digital VCL outcomes. Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, partners, and customers, both internal and external, to understand their needs and translate them into prioritised digital delivery outcomes.
- Act as the voice of the customer and business, ensuring mission priorities, backlog sequencing and delivery decisions maximise customer, operational and commercial value. Continuously evaluate opportunities and adjust scope based on benefits, feedback and strategic priorities.
- Represent the digital mission in cross-functional governance forums, influencing investment, sequencing and prioritisation decisions to maximise Digital VCL outcomes and ensure alignment across business, technology and go-to-market teams.
Mission Delivery & Business Outcomes
- Lead a cross-functional digital mission to identify and deliver key customer experience, workflow, platform and capability uplift initiatives. Lead the documentation of benefits, initiative outcomes and feature prioritisation to support effective build, test and release while ensuring delivery of agreed Digital VCL scope.
- Work with the Delivery Lead to manage the budget, resources, dependencies and risks of the mission and oversee delivery of multiple concurrent initiatives. Ensure sound commercial decision making, effective investment prioritisation and achievement of expected business outcomes and benefits.
- Manage performance, quality and outcomes of the mission, including initiative quality, feature definition, acceptance criteria, release readiness and benefits tracking through metrics and feedback tools such as user research, analytics and testing.
Change, Adoption & Business Readiness
- Ensure non-technical delivery outcomes are successfully achieved, including business readiness, operational readiness, change management, adoption, communications, training and go-to-market activities required to realise expected business value.
- Partner with business leaders and SMEs to support successful implementation, adoption and ongoing measurement of initiative outcomes and benefits.
Leadership, Culture & Continuous Improvement
- Actively champions Vocus’ system of work, builds understanding with business leaders and stakeholders. Partners with the Delivery Lead(s) to embed and mature ways of working within the Mission team. Collaborates with the Delivery Practice to identify and operationalise improvements.
- Lead, coach and develop direct reports and matrix team members, creating a high-performing environment focused on collaboration, accountability, innovation and customer outcomes.
- Foster an inclusive, safe and high-performing team culture that promotes psychological safety, continuous learning and continuous improvement.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve customer experiences, digital capabilities, delivery effectiveness and operational performance through innovation, experimentation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Practice Leads to support capability development, performance management and career growth for digital team members.
What you’ll bring to the role
To be successful as the Digital Mission Lead you will be a highly capable digital leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys bringing people together to solve meaningful customer and business challenges.
You’ll also bring;
- 8+ years' experience in digital delivery, digital transformation, product leadership, customer experience or mission-based execution/delivery roles.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale, cross-functional digital initiatives.
- Strong experience influencing executive stakeholders and navigating complex organisational environments.
- Proven capability managing significant budgets, investment decisions and benefit realisation programs.
- Deep understanding of digital customer experiences, digital platforms and workflow optimisation.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer outcomes, business priorities and strategic objectives.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- Relevant qualifications in Agile, Product Management, Project Management or Change Management will be highly regarded.
