As Lead Control Systems Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager – Electrical, you will act as a subject matter expert in the field of control systems engineering, including instrumentation, process control, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems and functional safety (beneficial), across mining and mineral process plants.
The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis at our Perth office.
Key duties

Provide technical leadership and specialist expertise in control systems engineering across studies, projects, and operational support activities within the mining and minerals processing sector.

Lead the development, review and approval of control systems designs, ensuring compliance with client specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements and DRA engineering procedures.

Oversee the integration of control systems with process, electrical, mechanical and other engineering disciplines to ensure safe, effective and fit-for-purpose project outcomes.

Review and validate technical information and deliverables from vendors, contractors and consultants to ensure accuracy, quality and alignment with project requirements.

Drive engineering excellence through peer reviews, technical assurance processes, lessons learned initiatives and the application of industry best practices.

Champion continuous improvement and innovation by identifying opportunities to leverage emerging control systems technologies, methodologies and digital solutions.

Prepare, review and approve key engineering documentation including control philosophies, functional design specifications, cause-and-effect matrices, I/O lists, instrument indexes, loop diagrams and network architecture drawings.

Provide technical input and leadership during concept studies, feasibility studies, proposals, EPCM and EPC project execution phases.

Support commissioning and operational readiness activities, including factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), loop checking, troubleshooting and plant commissioning.

Collaborate closely with project managers, discipline leads, clients and stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions and successfully meet project objectives.

Mentor and support engineers within the control systems discipline, fostering knowledge sharing, technical development and a culture of engineering excellence.
Essential attributes
-
Degree qualified in Electrical, Control Systems, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline, with 10+ years’ experience in control systems engineering.

Demonstrated control systems engineering experience across the project lifecycle (concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, EPCM and EPC) in mining and mineral process plants.

Hands-on experience with PLC, DCS and SCADA platforms (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, ABB, GE, Yokogawa), field instrumentation, control networks and functional safety (IEC 61508/61511) (beneficial). D

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex control system issues and develop practical engineering solutions within operational and project environments.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
