- Broad role across multiple entities, projects and business operations
- Build stronger finance systems, controls and reporting
- Progression towards Finance Manager or Financial Controller
The opportunity
Connekt Plumbing is seeking a hands-on Group Accountant to strengthen the finance systems, processes, controls and reporting foundations across its growing group of businesses.
The immediate focus is on improving the accuracy, consistency and visibility of the day-to-day finance function, including accounts, payroll workflows, project claims, month-end and management reporting.
This role will suit an ambitious and commercially minded accountant who is prepared to work in the detail, improve the way finance operates and help build a scalable platform for future growth.
You will work closely with the Group Director, Office Manager, operational teams and external advisers.
Key areas of responsibility
- Group accounts, reconciliations and month-end
- Accounts payable, receivables and payroll workflows
- Project claims, invoicing, retentions and securities
- Cashflow, WIP, stock and management reporting
- BAS, ATO and external accountant coordination
- Financial controls, systems and process improvement
- Construction ERP, reporting and automation development
About you
You will bring:
- strong practical accounting experience across month-end, reconciliations and reporting;
- experience working across multiple entities, projects or business units;
- sound understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and cashflow processes;
- experience using construction, project-based or trade services ERP systems;
- the ability to quickly become highly proficient in the Group’s ERP platform;
- strong Excel and accounting systems capability;
- confidence working with business owners and operational managers;
- a practical, accountable and improvement-focused approach.
Experience in construction, commercial contracting, plumbing, property, service and maintenance, manufacturing or another project-based environment will be highly regarded.
CA or CPA qualification, or progress towards qualification, is desirable but not essential where strong commercial accounting capability can be demonstrated.
Exposure to Power BI, reporting automation or AI-enabled finance tools will be advantageous, but is not a day-one requirement.
Remote candidates
Remote candidates may be considered where they have strong practical experience using construction or project-based ERP systems and can operate effectively with limited day-to-day supervision.
Why join Connekt
This is an opportunity to help build and improve the finance function rather than simply inherit an established process.
You will gain broad exposure across contracting, service, property, stock, project accounting and finance systems.
For the right person, there is a genuine pathway towards Finance Manager and Financial Controller responsibilities as the Group continues to grow.
