About Australian Landscape Supplies (ALS): At ALS, we don’t just "deliver" products; we provide technical logistics for the trade, civil, and residential building sectors. We are seeking an experienced, full-time Delivery Driver (ANZSCO 732111) to operate within our fleet and serve commercial accounts and residential projects across the Townsville region. This is a highly specific, specialized position for an operator handling premium stock in our modern, organized "Dry Yard" facility.
Key Day-to-Day Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Route Planning & Dispatch: Review daily manifests, determine final delivery destinations of specialized landscape goods, and plan the most efficient, safe delivery routes across Townsville's regional corridors.
- Loading & Expert Restraint: Assist with loading operations to ensure unconventional or high-center-of-gravity civil trade goods are safely secured using advanced lashing systems to prevent shifting or transit damage.
- Technical Order Verification: Carefully verify all physical stock against loading documents, delivery dockets, and manifests to ensure 100% precision regarding structural grades (such as concrete sleeper MPa ratings and reinforcement patterns).
- Site Navigation & Maneuvering: Maneuver delivery vehicles safely into position for complex loading and unloading procedures on high-traffic civil construction sites and tight-access residential properties.
- Unloading Operations (HIAB): Perform precise unloading operations utilizing vehicle-integrated crane equipment (HIAB) to execute drops safely near existing domestic structures, fences, and overhead services.
- Delivery Certification: Interact professionally with civil contractors, landscapers, and residential site supervisors, manage on-site product alignment queries, and formally obtain customer signatures/certification of completed deliveries.
- Vehicle Maintenance Log: Perform daily pre-start inspections of your delivery vehicle, manage basic safety and fluid checks, and report any vehicle maintenance needs or operational defects promptly to management.
- Chemical Compliance: Manage the safe transport, handling, and segregation of trade landscaping chemicals in strict accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Requirements & Skills Needed:
- Industry Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of proven professional delivery driving experience, specifically operating within commercial landscape supply, trade supply, or civil construction logistics.
- Site Literacy: Demonstrated experience delivering to and navigating active, high-density residential building sites and large-scale civil projects.
- Landscape Product Competency: Ability to quickly identify, inventory, and differentiate between various concrete sleeper styles, textures, and structural engineering ratings on sight to mitigate order errors.
- Licence & Equipment Tickets: Valid Australian Driver’s Licence with a clean record, a valid Forklift (LF) Licence, and proven competency/experience operating vehicle-mounted cranes (HIAB).
- Safety Awareness: Strong working knowledge of load restraint guidelines and chemical safety data compliance (SDS).
- Communication: High-level customer service skills and professional English communication when dealing with tradespeople and project managers on-site.
