The Role
A great career opportunity has arisen for a practitioner with between 1-8 years' PQE to join our Insurance team in Melbourne working alongside Sarah Fountain in the areas of Professional Indemnity, General Liability, Management Liability/Directors & Officers.
This includes providing advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and strategy for resolution and defending claims against solicitors, barristers, engineers, construction professionals, accountants and other financial services, estate agents and medical practitioners.
Your expertise and dedication will help protect our clients' interests and ensure fair resolutions in complex legal matters. Our team has been acknowledged for its leading position in the Australian market, working with most of the major insurers in Australia.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
- File management including meeting deadlines and managing documents;
- Reviewing evidence and preparing advices on indemnity, liability and quantum;
- Communicating with clients both in writing and verbally;
- Identifying issues, briefing experts and analysing opinion;
- Preparing court documents, including statements of evidence;
- Drafting correspondence and communicating with other practitioners;
- Preparing for, managing online processes and appearing in Court;
- Briefing and liaising with counsel; and
- Staying updated on industry regulations, case law, and emerging trends in professional indemnity law.
Who We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Between 1-8 years' ideally in a defendant insurance team. Experience in litigation, construction, or regulatory matters will be strongly considered;
- Strong analytical, research and problem‑solving abilities;
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and succinctly;
- Demonstrated experience handling a busy file load;
- Excellent attention to detail; and
- The ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
