An opportunity is available for an experienced Chef to join the kitchen team at BMD Northcliffe Surf Club.
We are seeking a qualified and capable Chef who is confident working across all sections of a commercial kitchen and can perform consistently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Strong wok-section experience would be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will bring energy, professionalism and a positive attitude to the team, along with the flexibility to work a rotating roster that includes mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays and school holiday periods.

About the Role
This is a full-time Chef position within a large and busy kitchen operation.
The successful applicant will be required to work across a range of kitchen sections and service periods. The position requires strong practical cooking ability, sound organisational skills and the capacity to maintain quality and consistency during high-volume services.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present menu items in accordance with recipes, specifications and presentation standards
- Work confidently across a range of kitchen sections, including grill, pans, larder, breakfast, fryer and wok as required
- Coordinate preparation and service within an allocated section
- Maintain consistent food quality, portion control and presentation
- Ensure food is prepared, stored and served at safe temperatures
- Monitor stock levels and replenish section requirements during service
- Assist with stock rotation, receiving and storage of goods
- Minimise waste through appropriate preparation, storage and portion control
- Maintain a clean, organised and food-safe workstation
- Complete kitchen setup, service and pack-down duties
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concerns
- Assist with training and supporting junior kitchen employees
- Communicate effectively with chefs, kitchen attendants and front-of-house employees
- Follow food safety, workplace health and safety, and Club procedures
- Assist senior chefs with operational requirements as directed
About You
To be considered for this position, you will ideally have:
- A relevant commercial cookery qualification
- At least two years of relevant commercial kitchen experience
- Experience working as a Chef or Commis Chef in a busy venue
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple kitchen sections
- Strong wok experience, which would be highly regarded
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant, club, hotel or similar operation
- Sound knowledge of food safety and safe food-handling practices
- Strong time-management and prioritisation skills
- The ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Clear communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, consistency and presentation
- A positive and team-focused attitude
- The physical capacity to stand for extended periods and complete normal kitchen duties
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays and school holiday periods

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
