About AutoSwift Finance
AutoSwift Finance is an Australian fintech lender focused on auto-related consumer credit, including Medium Amount Consumer Credit (MACC) and car loans. We are part of a global automotive finance group with deep experience in non-bank auto lending across multiple markets. While AutoSwift operates independently in Australia, we benefit from the broader group’s experience, technology capability, and long-term commitment to the auto finance sector. We are an early-stage team in Australia, building a compliant, scalable lending platform from the ground up. In the initial stage, this role will be required to wear many hats, through client servicing, disbursement and other loan operational functions.
Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Collections Specialist / Collections Team Leader to play a hands-on role in managing customer arrears, collections operations, and repayment outcomes across our MACC and auto loan portfolio.
This is not a traditional “dialler-only” collections role. We are looking for someone commercially minded, operationally strong, and comfortable helping build collections strategy, processes, controls, and customer engagement frameworks alongside senior management.
You will initially work as a senior individual contributor while helping shape the collections function as the business scales. Over time, the role is expected to evolve into a formal team leadership position with responsibility for mentoring and managing onshore/offshore collections staff.
What You'll be working on
- Managing day-to-day collections activity across early, mid, and late-stage arrears
- Engaging directly with customers via phone, SMS, email, and other channels to resolve overdue accounts
- Negotiating payment arrangements and assessing customer circumstances with sound judgement
- Applying practical collections strategies while maintaining compliance with Australian regulatory expectations and internal policies
- Working closely with management to design and refine collections workflows, contact strategies, escalation pathways, and operational controls
- Helping develop collections scripts, customer communications, templates, and procedures across different delinquency stages
- Supporting the implementation and optimisation of collections systems, diallers, workflows, and automation tools
- Reviewing delinquent accounts to identify hardship indicators, fraud concerns, skip risk, or repossession risk
- Supporting secured collections activity relating to vehicle-backed loans, including coordination with repossession agents and external service providers where required
- Participating in file reviews, QA checks, complaint reviews, and collections governance processes
- Maintaining accurate file notes, customer records, and audit trails within the collections platform
- Working closely with credit, operations, compliance, legal, and customer service teams
- Helping onboard, mentor, and support junior collections staff as the business grows
- Contributing to the development of a commercially effective but regulatorily defensible collections culture
What We've Looking For
- Strong understanding of Australian debt collection expectations and customer engagement standards
- Comfortable working in an early-stage environment where processes are still evolving. Helping to design or improve collections strategies, workflows, or operational processes is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in consumer collections, hardship, recoveries, or arrears management within non-bank lending, auto finance, or consumer credit
- Experience in secured lending, vehicle finance, repossessions, or legal recoveries highly regarded. Handling near-prime and sub-prime customer segments.
- Commercially minded with sound judgement and strong communication skills
- Able to balance collections effectiveness with customer experience and compliance considerations
- Comfortable handling difficult conversations professionally and calmly
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Experience working with collections systems, LOS/LMS platforms, or servicing platforms
What's in It for you
