About the role
DekkoSecure is an international technology company with deep expertise in protecting highly sensitive and mission critical data. DekkoSecure's focus is building military-grade, end-to-end encrypted security workflow solutions for government, law enforcement agencies, defence primes, and the enterprise healthcare sector. Our product suite includes DekkoCORE, a highly secure platform for file sharing and collaboration, and DekkoDEMS, purpose-built for digital evidence management. As we scale, we are creating a dedicated Business Systems Analyst position to sit at the centre of our product, support, commercial and operations functions.
The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for eliciting and documenting business and system requirements, analysing existing processes and data, and translating client and internal needs into clear functional specifications and improved system functionality. The role is the central reference point between platform users, the product and engineering teams, and the wider business, ensuring that changes to our systems and processes are well specified, tested and adopted.
Key responsibilities
We are seeking an engaging, organised and analytical individual with advanced written and verbal communication skills who can:
- Work with platform users, clients and internal teams to draw out what they need from DekkoSecure’s systems, pin those needs down precisely, and write them up as requirements that both the business and the engineering team can build against.
- Engage with users and clients across the company’s Australian, Northern European and North American markets to elicit, formulate and document business and system requirements, and to analyse how the platform is used in each market.
- Examine how work currently flows through the company’s support, onboarding and data-handling activities and build process and data maps that expose where the business loses time, drops information or breaks down.
- Analyse client usage of the platform to identify adoption patterns, friction points and where users encounter difficulty or inefficiency, feeding these findings back to the product and engineering teams with recommendations for improvement.
- Weigh the available options and put forward the process changes and system behaviour the business should adopt, ranking each recommendation by the value it returns and the number of users it affects.
- Turn agreed requirements into functional specifications the product and engineering teams can build from, across both DekkoCORE and DekkoDEMS.
- Apply data and process modelling techniques to design and document how information and processes flow across core business systems, establishing and maintaining a single source of truth.
- Set the test plans and acceptance criteria each change has to pass and run that testing, so nothing reaches production or client use until it holds up against the agreed requirements.
- Run analysis and implementation work as planned, costed and resourced initiatives using agile methods, including the programmes to consolidate the company’s systems and formalise its processes, and track them through to delivery.
- Design and maintain reporting and forecasting dashboards that give leadership accurate, data-driven visibility of system and operational performance.
- Create and maintain documentation, including internal standard operating procedures for staff and external user guides and Help Center content for clients.
- Conduct training and structured walkthroughs of new and changed platform functionality for internal users and clients to support adoption and validate that delivered changes meet acceptance criteria.
- Be the person the business turns to on how its systems and processes work, advising the product, support, commercial and operations teams when they need to make system or process decisions.
Skills, qualifications, experience required
- A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, business informatics, or a related cross-functional business and information technology discipline. A postgraduate qualification combining information technology and business is highly regarded.
- Experience working in a start-up or scale-up environment in a client-facing role.
- Willingness to undertake occasional international travel to Europe and North America for requirements gathering.
- Ability to understand user and client needs and translate them into documented system and process requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to translate user and client needs into documented system and product improvements within a software or SaaS environment.
- Experience with CRM systems, document and collaboration platforms.
- Competence in data and process modelling, and in producing clear system specifications and process documentation.
- Experience preparing and delivering user training.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Desirable
- Exposure to secure collaboration, document management or cybersecurity software products.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (for example Agile) and supporting tools.
- Experience supporting product roadmap decisions through structured feedback and analysis.
