About the opportunity
The Sydney Medical School is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic leader as Associate Professor or Professor of Chronic Care and Ageing within the Westmead Clinical School.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced clinician–researcher to lead and expand an internationally recognised program of research, education, and clinical innovation in chronic disease and healthy ageing within one of Australia’s largest and most diverse health precincts. The role is based at Westmead Clinical School, with a clinical academic appointment through Western Sydney Local Health District.

This platform provides a strong foundation for developing interdisciplinary programs and research centres focused on chronic disease, frailty, multimorbidity, and integrated models of care.
The appointee will play a key leadership role in shaping research direction, curriculum development, and the training and mentoring of the next generation of clinicians and researchers. They will foster strong partnerships across the University, health services, government, and industry to translate research into improved models of care and health outcomes.
Applications are welcomed from outstanding candidates in geriatric medicine, chronic disease areas (including cardiovascular, renal, and neurological conditions), dementia, multimorbidity, and related fields.
The University encourages applications from both national and international candidates.
