We are seeking a full-time permanent Paralegal to predominantly support our Corporate & Commercial Special Counsel, whilst also providing some legal, transactional and administrative support to the broader Corporate & Commercial team, as necessary.
This role will support the full lifecycle of corporate and commercial matters, from client onboarding, file set-up and due diligence through to execution, completion and post-completion administration, while also providing proactive diary, workflow and practice management support to the team.
Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:
- Assist the Special Counsel with the proactive day-to-day progression and management of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructures, shareholder and partnership arrangements and general commercial contracts.
- Act as a point of contact for clients and other parties on assigned matters, responding to routine enquiries professionally and escalating complex matters to supervising solicitors.
- Assist with due diligence exercises, as well as checking and proofreading legal documentation and conducting company Register searches.
- Coordinate and manage client meetings, conferences, settlement meetings, calls and signing appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling and coordinating attendees across multiple offices.
- Diary management to ensure key legal and court deadlines are met and monitored.
- Processing of invoices, ensuring monthly billing reports are updated and expenses paid.
- General day to day legal and administrative support to broader team, when required.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- At least 2 years' of legal administrative experience in a paralegal or legal assistant position, preferably within a corporate and commercial practice. We are open to candidates with broader transactional team experience or commercial litigation.
- Some hands-on experience supporting corporate transactions, including document preparation, ASIC filings and completion processes with a working knowledge of corporate registers, company searches and general commercial contract processes would be preferable.
- Demonstrated ability to provide proactive and autonomous diary and workflow management support to senior fee earners.
- Experience with practice management and document management systems (e.g. ActionStep or similar) would be beneficial but not essential.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal and administrative processes clearly to clients.
- Strong organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines simultaneously.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with a commitment to quality control in document production.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Willingness to learn and upskill in this technical area of law.
