We are seeking an experienced and motivated Inclusion Officer to lead the development and implementation of the Disability Action Plan, deliver access and inclusion programs and partnerships, and drive strategic and organisational change to enhance access, inclusion, and participation for people with disability.
About the role:
The Inclusion Officer – Disability will apply specialist knowledge of disability rights, accessibility, and inclusive practice. The role will encompass leading strategic plans and organisational change, program delivery and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and providing expert advice to support equitable outcomes for people with disability.
You will also:
- Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of Council’s Disability Action Plan.
- Engage and collaborate with community members, groups and stakeholders to inform and co-design of Council’s Access & Inclusion priorities.
- Develop accessible information, resources and tools that support community to access and engage with council services.
- Design and deliver disability access and inclusion programs and events to reduce barriers for people with a disability.
- Prepare reports on disability program outcomes, action plan progress and access improvement activities
- Provide specialist disability access and inclusion advice to service units, supporting the integration of access principles into Council programs and services.
About you:
We are looking for:
- Experience in local government access and inclusion or disability sector.
- Demonstrated experience in disability access and inclusion program delivery and advocacy.
- Sound knowledge of disability rights, access principals and relevant Victorian and Commonwealth legislation.
- Ability to develop, implement and report on disability action plans or access improvement programs.
- Effective community engagement skills with the ability to work respectfully with people with disability and disability advocacy organisations.
