The Opportunity
The supply planning manager in Shepparton has full ownership of the 6-104 week supply plan for the Shepparton site, as well as accountability for the short-term material planning and scheduling for the site to ensure an accurate plan, build on reasonable assumptions, that meets the objectives of the business – both 1-year STIP objectives and the mid-term plan.
This role will have 3 direct reports – 2 schedulers and the newly created Material Supply Planning Lead role. This position can be based at either or Shepparton Site or our Corporate Office located in Swanston Street, Melbourne.
Key Objectives
-
Leading cross-functional business continuity management (BCM) teams to mitigate DIFOT risk.
-
Full ownership of long-term supply and capacity needs from the site, making recommendations for management of demand or new products and aligning with operations on how and when to implement.
-
Ownership of the capacity and production plan including actuals in IBP forums, short and long term.
-
Manage customer and commercial expectations through clear and consistent heatmaps that are built upon clear assumptions and outline in words the risk to those assumptions.
-
Manage production volume and inventory to target (STIP and mid-term plan targets) to ensure sufficient cash available to the business to reinvest whilst protecting the P&L.
-
This may require trade-offs, which the supply planning lead will present to the business for decision in the form of an Issue for Resolution (IFR).
-
Working with operations to smooth 6-104 week production plans and optimize labour spend, with labour utilization a key metric that the supply planning manager will be accountable for.
-
Ensure DIFOT risks are called out and escalated into appropriate forums for mitigation or communication.
-
Work with demand planning to understand changes to the demand forecast, risk to the demand forecast, and be able to communicate major changes influencing the demand forecast – this role will serve as a key conduit between demand and the site, and it’s critical to understand the demand and profitability of key SKUs to be able to lobby for the impact to customers driven by decisions that impact DIFOT.
-
Manage the supply planning team to ensure they are set-up for success, have backfill available to take leave, and work with the Head of Supply Planning on succession for the supply planning team roles.
-
Track and report utilization by line in the factory including projections to support labour planning and capital projections for additional capacity/debottlenecking.
