Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs Meat Department personnel
- Monitors employee performance and provides proactive feedback to promote teamwork and accountability
- Participates in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination
- Participates in Meat Department employee evaluations
- Responds to employee concerns using problem solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee
Agreement and other applicable regulations
- Approves timecards and other reports
- Implements and upholds proper Meat Department and general safety procedures and standards
- Reviews department profit and loss statement
- Develops and implements sales and merchandising plan for department
- Determines production requirements and participates in meat cutting
- Checks quality and consistency of finished merchandise
- Oversees merchandise presentation and merchandising
- Reviews sanitation log and checks for health code compliance
- Approves and submits physical inventory periodically and orders to buying office for equipment, merchandise and supplies
- Follows Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) guidelines (proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment)
- Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety Certification and all safety training
required by warehouse and Meat department
- Coordinates and implements proper maintenance and repairs for machinery and equipment
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees and vendors.
Education/Training: Higher School Certificate or relevant Apprenticeship
Licenses/Certifications: Butchers Trade Certificate
Experiences/Skills: Management or supervisory experience
Butcher/meat department/meat cutting or comparable experience
Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organisation skills
Problem solving and critical thinking skills
