Reporting to the Education Manager Business, Management and Finance, this role is responsible for the planning, delivery, assessment and continuous improvement of vocational and non-vocational education and fee-for-service programs across a variety of learning environments.
You will manage the student learning lifecycle from initial course enquiries through to the implementation of individualised teaching using flexible, inclusive and contemporary teaching strategies. The role also contributes to the design and development of educational resources, establishes and maintains industry partnerships, and supports quality teaching, compliance and continuous improvement across the department.

What You'll Do
- Plan, prepare, teach and assess learning activities that meet learner needs
- Establish and maintain safe, inclusive learning environments using diverse teaching methods
- Support student participation, learning plans and reasonable adjustments to meet individual learner needs
- Develop and maintain high-quality teaching, assessment and learning resources
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and assessment in accordance with Melbourne Polytechnic policies
- Work within quality systems and participate in validation and moderation activities
- Establish and maintain networks with industry, relevant VET bodies and other stakeholders
- Participate in student entry level assessments, course selection interviews and orientation activities where applicable
- Participate in professional development to maintain educational and vocational currency
- Actively contribute to team-based program delivery and departmental objectives
- Relevant vocational qualifications and current industry experience in Work Health and Safety
- Demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Anti-Discrimination, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Ability to establish industry partnerships and contribute to student engagement
- Excellent ICT skills to support teaching, e-learning and reporting requirements
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Well-developed teaching skills, including the ability to use a range of teaching and assessment strategies to meet diverse learner needs
- Demonstrated understanding of learning principles, teaching methodologies and learner-centred teaching practices
- Knowledge of current issues in vocational education and training, particularly as they relate to Work Health and Safety
- Experience teaching or assessing within a VET environment
Qualifications & Mandatory Checks
Appointment to this position is subject to meeting the qualification requirements (where applicable) and the successful completion of all mandatory employment checks.
Teaching Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the qualification requirements under the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2024 and relevant regulatory standards.
You will have:
- Relevant qualifications in your discipline area
- Recent and relevant industry and/or teaching experience
In addition, depending on the role:
- Vocational Education and Training (VET) roles:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent), or a diploma or higher qualification in adult or vocational education
- Non-Vocational Education roles (e.g. EAL, AMEP, SEE, Foundation, VCE):
A recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the program (e.g. postgraduate TESOL or equivalent), and demonstrated teaching capability through relevant experience
Applicants who can demonstrate equivalent teaching capability through a combination of qualifications and experience may also be considered.

- A valid Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee)
- A National Police Check
