The opportunity:
Join a dynamic and collaborative clinical team and advance your career in Clinical Genetics through a structured, high-quality training program. This Fellowship offers supervised clinical experience accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) as part of the Advanced Training Program in Clinical Genetics, supporting your pathway to Fellowship (FRACP).
Designed to build expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of individuals and families with inherited or suspected genetic conditions, this role provides comprehensive exposure aligned with the RACP Clinical Genetics curriculum.
This role is offered on a 6-month parental leave cover contract with the option for part time.
This is an exceptional opportunity to gain specialised clinical training while contributing to innovative, patient-centred genetic healthcare.
What you’ll do
Participate in three outpatient clinic sessions per week, including regional outreach services
Prepare thoroughly for clinics, with timely follow-up of results and correspondence
Provide inpatient consultations as required
Contribute to duty and after-hours on-call rosters
Engage in counselling supervision and multidisciplinary case discussions
Liaise with diagnostic laboratories as allocated
Support patient-centred care, ensuring individuals and families understand and exercise their rights
Respond effectively to patient and family concerns or complaints
What you’ll bring
Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent)
Completion of RACP Basic Training (Paediatrics & Child Health or Adult Medicine), including Written and Clinical Examinations
Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to ongoing professional development and medical education
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
