About the opportunity:
We are seeking a strategic, highly autonomous Planning & Approval Manager to take full ownership of our planning and approvals portfolio across our aggregates, concrete and precast businesses in NSW and the ACT.
Operating out of our Norwest (Bella Vista) office, this role offers incredible variety. You will manage a highly diverse range of projects and day-to-day tasks, providing robust, risk-based strategic advice to support both short- and long-term business growth.
Key responsibilities:
. Portfolio Ownership: Take end-to-end responsibility for your own dedicated portfolio of planning and approval projects across multiple sites, including State Significant Development.
. Diverse Project Delivery: Manage a highly varied pipeline of projects and complex environmental assessments, rapidly adapting to changing priorities and diverse daily tasks.
. Stakeholder Influence: Deploy a high level of influence to align, educate, and guide both internal business leaders and external regulatory bodies.
. Project Leadership: Establish and lead project teams, coordinating external technical consultants to ensure timely delivery of environmental and planning approvals.
. Government & Community Liaison: Navigate and engage with senior stakeholders across all three tiers of government, local communities, and Indigenous groups.
About you:
To thrive in this role, you possess a sharp intellect balanced with an engaging, empathetic communication style. You are highly adaptable, comfortable managing a large and diverse workload, and capable of digesting complex legal and technical information to extract clear, actionable strategies for the business.
Qualifications & Experience:
. Education: Tertiary qualification in Urban/Town Planning, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
. Advanced Influence: Proven, high-level ability to influence, negotiate with, and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
. Industry Experience: Solid experience working within the mining, construction materials, energy, transport, or utilities sectors.
. Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of NSW/ACT planning and environmental regulations and approval processes.
. Project Management: Demonstrated success autonomously managing a portfolio of projects and delivering innovative planning solutions.
