About LVL80 Cranes

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Junior Project Engineer – Civil / Lifting Projects to join our growing Queensland team. This position is suited to an early-career engineer seeking to further develop their technical, engineering design, and project delivery capabilities while working under the guidance of experienced senior engineers and project managers.
The successful candidate will perform engineering design, analysis, project planning and construction engineering activities across a broad range of crane, lifting and temporary works projects while receiving mentoring and professional development within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Technical Analysis
- Analyse structural systems subjected to static and dynamic loads under the direction of senior engineers.
- Perform engineering calculations and design assessments to verify the strength, stability and serviceability of structural systems.
- Prepare and review engineering specifications, technical drawings, construction methodologies and engineering documentation.
- Develop engineering designs, calculations and technical reports for lifting and construction projects.
- Produce CAD drawings, engineering layouts and project documentation.
- Investigate engineering challenges and develop practical engineering solutions under the supervision of senior engineers.
Geotechnical Investigation & Site Assessment
- Review geotechnical investigation data, including soil and rock testing results, to assess engineering characteristics relevant to project design.
- Assess foundation requirements and soil bearing capacities for lifting and construction applications under engineering supervision.
- Evaluate geotechnical information to determine factors affecting structural performance and construction methodology.
- Participate in site inspections and engineering investigations to support project design.
Construction Methodology & Project Planning
- Develop construction methodologies, lift studies, engineering work plans and project execution strategies under the direction of senior engineers.
- Prepare and review engineering specifications, construction procedures and project documentation.
- Plan engineering activities, resource requirements and project schedules.
- Contribute to project risk assessments and engineering reviews.
- Develop practical engineering solutions to support safe and efficient project delivery.
Project Coordination & Site Delivery
- Coordinate engineering activities with project managers, operational personnel, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor engineering deliverables and project progress to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in site inspections, engineering reviews and project meetings.
- Provide engineering advice and technical support during project delivery.
- Assist in resolving technical engineering issues arising during construction activities.
Cost Estimation & Project Controls
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to prepare project estimates and budgets.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and engineering cost estimates.
- Monitor engineering changes and assess impacts on project cost and delivery.
- Prepare variation documentation and project cost reporting.
- Contribute to project forecasting and commercial administration activities.
Engineering Compliance, Quality & Safety
- Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, legislation, engineering principles, company procedures and client requirements.
- Participate in engineering risk assessments, design reviews and quality assurance processes.
- Maintain engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within engineering and project delivery activities.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders regarding engineering matters.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers and operational teams to deliver engineering solutions.
- Present engineering information during project meetings and design reviews.
- Contribute to a professional, collaborative engineering environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor Degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 1–3 years' engineering experience, including graduate employment, internships or project-based engineering experience.
- Sound understanding of civil engineering design principles, structural behaviour and construction methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and construction documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and engineering calculation skills.
- Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative multidisciplinary engineering project environment.
Experience within cranes, lifting systems, temporary works, construction methodology, major construction projects, structural engineering, or heavy industry environments will be highly regarded.
