We're looking for an Assistant Manager who loves being on the floor, enjoys connecting with people, and believes that warm, thoughtful service can turn a quick visit into a memorable experience.
Located within the iconic Queen Victoria Market, this role offers the opportunity to lead a passionate team in one of Melbourne's most vibrant hospitality destinations, combining exceptional hospitality with premium retail experiences.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on retail or hospitality environment, leads by example, and gets excited about sharing the story behind quality products.
About the Role
Working closely with our Multi-Site Venue Manager, you'll help lead the day-to-day operation of our Queen Victoria Market venue. You'll be a key presence on the floor, helping shape the energy of the space while supporting a team that delivers exceptional customer experiences every day.
This is a role for someone who enjoys leading from the front — building strong team culture, creating memorable customer interactions and helping customers discover products they'll genuinely love.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading from the floor with confident, genuine customer engagement
- Creating standout experiences through conversation, sampling and storytelling
- Helping customers discover products they'll genuinely love
- Driving retail sales through product knowledge, merchandising and customer engagement
- Supporting seasonal product launches, gifting campaigns and visual merchandising initiatives
- Coaching and developing team members to deliver exceptional service
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members
- Assisting with rostering and helping the store run smoothly during busy trade
- Cash handling, end-of-day processes and daily store operations
- Upholding our standards around quality, sustainability and presentation
While this isn't a traditional café, experience with beverages (coffee or hot chocolate) is helpful — curiosity, care and attention to detail matter most.
Early starts are part of the role, and the market environment is lively, busy and full of energy.
