The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on Special Project Trade Specialist to join our Product Development team in Baywater. This full-time role supports the R&D workshop in the development, testing and modification of prototype heavy vehicles. It’s a great opportunity for a skilled trade professional who enjoys working on new and evolving projects, solving problems, and contributing to innovative vehicle development.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with prototype assembly, fabrication and modification
Support testing and certification activities
Carry out maintenance on heavy vehicles and workshop equipment
Contribute to day-to-day workshop operations
Record work accurately and prepare clear documentation
Follow safety procedures and support compliance requirements
About You
You are a qualified mechanical trade professional with strong hands-on experience and a practical, solutions-focused mindset. You are comfortable working in a changing environment, can read technical drawings, and bring a high level of care to both your workmanship and documentation. You will also have:
Cert IV in Mechanical Trade (essential)
Experience in a mechanical trade, ideally in R&D or manufacturing
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
Experience with hand, machine and measurement tools
Knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic systems
Forklift licence and HR heavy vehicle licence or higher
Basic understanding of control and electrical systems
