South Gippsland Shire Council is seeking an experienced and passionate communications professional to lead our Communications and Engagement team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in how Council communicates with our community, stakeholders and people. Working across the organisation, you will drive Council's internal and external communications, community engagement, marketing and digital communications activities.
As Coordinator Communications and Engagement, you will lead a small but dynamic team and provide strategic advice that helps build community understanding, strengthen Council's brand and reputation, and support the delivery of Council's priorities.
In this role you'll:
- Lead a high performing Communications, Engagement and Advocacy team and initiatives to build high quality capacity across the organisation.
- Maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders such as local media and internal departments to manage Council’s reputational risks.
- Monitor community engagement levels and lead initiatives to build trust with the community.
- Build capacity for excellent communications, both internally and with the community, and to deliver digital communications including social media, video, web and intranet.
- When required, proactively monitor, moderate, and manage Council’s social media channels outside of standard business hours.
We're looking for someone who:
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Media or related discipline, and/or relevant experience in Communications and Engagement or, less formal qualifications with extensive experience.
- Demonstrated track record of leading the delivery of Communications, Marketing and/or Engagement Campaigns, with well-developed communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of and experience working with a range of diverse communications and engagement methods and tools.
- Confidence and experience providing media advice, guidance and training to Executive and Councillors.
- Demonstrated ability to research and evaluate innovative practices and recommend best options.
