About the Role
This is a great opportunity to join a team that sits at the front end of NSW’s biosecurity response. As a Technical Assistant in Specimen Reception, you’ll be part of a team handling a high volume of diagnostic and research specimens that support early detection and timely diagnosis of diseases and pests that can impact agriculture and communities.
In this role, you will:
- Receive, check and prepare specimens in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Prioritise and manage multiple tasks to meet critical turnaround times
- Follow clear procedures while maintaining accuracy
- Use systems to track and record information reliably and efficiently
- Work closely with a supportive, purpose-driven team to deliver high-quality outcomes

About You
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Qualifications in accordance with Part 2 (xv) of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award
- The ability to receive, check and prepare specimens accurately and efficiently
- A strong understanding of procedures, quality standards and safe work practices
- The ability to multitask, reprioritise and stay organised in a high-volume workflow
- Experience from environments like healthcare, labs, logistics, or busy service roles
- Confidence using systems and technology to maintain accurate records
- Well-developed communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork
- A high level of accountability, integrity and attention to detail
- A strong customer focus and commitment to quality service delivery.
