Working in a strategic Alliance with Thiess and Harmony, you will form part of a collaborative team, driven by shared objectives and values to deliver operational excellence at the Eva Copper Mine Project.
The Alliance will set new benchmarks for safe, sustainable and efficient copper development, supported by commitments to local employment and procurement, new-to-industry and Indigenous workforce development and meaningful engagement in the local community.

The Eva Copper Mine Project is located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People in North West Queensland, approximately 75 km north-west of Cloncurry and about 95 km north-east of Mount Isa.
The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.

While this role forms part of the Eva Copper Alliance, employment will be ongoing with Thiess, with recruitment and employment managed by Thiess.
The opportunity
Looking to start or change your career in mining? With a planned start date of January 2027, this could be your opportunity to build a career in Technical Services with Thiess at the Eva Copper Mine in North-West Queensland.
With no prior mining experience required, you might be about to finish Year 12, a recent school leaver or a mine worker looking to move into a technical role. This is a unique opportunity to kick-start your mining career within our Technical Services team through a structured development program.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience across a range of disciplines, including mining engineering, survey, drill and blast, geology and geotechnical functions.
Based on site on an 8-days on, 6-days off roster, this role offers practical industry experience, ongoing mentorship, and a clear pathway for long-term career growth in mining.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting technical systems and data management processes.
- Assisting with the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Validating and maintaining operational data within mining systems.
- Supporting drill and blast activities through system uploads and data management.
- Assisting with data analysis and operational reporting.
- Participating in field activities and site inspections.
- Working closely with Engineers, Surveyors, Geologists and Geotechnical personnel to build practical technical skills.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Queensland Year 12 Certificate.
- A strong interest in STEM subjects such as mathematics, physics, computer science or engineering.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good computer literacy and attention to detail.
- Effective organisation and time management skills.
- A willingness to learn and develop through both on-the-job training and formal study.
- Curiosity, initiative and a positive attitude toward problem-solving.
Previous mining experience is not required. Experience gained through school projects, work experience placements, community activities or technical hobbies will be highly regarded.
