About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our pre-construction team on a permanent full-time basis. The successful applicant will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates and competitive tenders for commercial and residential construction projects, with a particular focus on tiling and waterproofing trade packages.
Reporting to the Director, you will work closely with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors and clients to ensure accurate pricing and successful tender submissions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity take-offs for commercial and residential construction projects, particularly tiling and waterproofing trade packages.
2. Analyse project conditions, trade scopes, installation requirements and site factors to determine labour, material, equipment and preliminary costs.
3. Measure quantities and prepare material take-offs using estimating software such as Bluebeam and Cubit Estimating.
4. Review architectural, structural and engineering drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
5. Liaise with builders, suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams to obtain quotations and technical information.
6. Conduct site inspections where required to verify measurements, access conditions and installation requirements.
7. Prepare pricing schedules, cost breakdowns, estimate summaries and tender submissions.
8. Assist with compiling tender documentation and supporting estimate analyses.
9. Participate in tender clarification meetings and respond to pricing queries.
10. Ensure estimates are commercially competitive while complying with project specifications and contractual requirements.
Requirements
· Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building and Construction Estimating, or Quantity Surveying.
· At least 3 years of relevant fulltime experience as a construction estimator.
· Demonstrated experience preparing estimates for commercial or residential construction projects.
· Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
· Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
· Experience using construction estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
· Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively within deadlines.
· Previous experience estimating tiling, waterproofing or specialist finishes packages will be highly regarded.
