SOUTHERN GULF NRM
Southern Gulf NRM is a not-for-profit community-based company responsible for planning and implementation of sustainable Natural Resource Management (NRM) in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria region of North West Queensland. Southern Gulf NRM is governed by a Board of Directors under the provisions of the Corporations Act 2001 and the Constitution of Southern Gulf NRM Ltd.
The Southern Gulf region covers 215,000 square kilometres and comprises the catchments of the Flinders-Cloncurry, Leichhardt, Gregory-Nicholson Rivers, Settlement Creek and Mornington Inlet, and the Wellesley Islands.
Programs are delivered collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including all levels of government, industry groups, Traditional Owners, and conservation groups.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the CEO, the role works closely with the CEO, General Manager, staff and external specialist Accountancy provider to support sound financial and administrative management systems and processes.
The role supports SGNRM in managing administrative functions, support senior management, and foster a productive work environment ensuring daily operations run smoothly and efficiently, maintaining compliance with organisational policies and regulations. They oversee office workflows and manage administrative systems.
The position is suited to a capable and adaptable professional who enjoys working across a broad range of organisational functions, and contributing strategically, while remaining practically engaged in day-to-day organisational operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Corporate Leadership & Organisational Support
- Support the CEO and GM in delivering organisational priorities and strategic objectives.
- Contribute practical advice, coordination and problem-solving across corporate functions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes and organisational practices.
- Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
Corporate Services Coordination
- Great business administrator with finance expertise & attention to detail.
- Handling purchasing and supply chain management.
- Support the Administration Coordinator in office maintenance and upkeep.
- Support the CEO in:
- development, implementation and review of organisational policies, procedures and systems.
- effective organisational compliance and governance processes.
Financial Coordination & Governance
- Assist the SGNRM external Accountant in coordinating budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
- Lead the quality control for payroll, Accounts management process.
- Support the Administration Coordinator in payroll, Accounts management process.
- Support the Leadership Group in monitoring organisational budgets, acquittals, and financial reporting requirements; and providing reports to the Leadership team.
- Support funding administration and project financial monitoring.
- With support from the SGNRM external Accountant, coordinate external audit processes, and financial compliance activities.
People, Culture & Capability
- Support the CEO and General Manager in recruitment and training.
- Lead and support the Administration Coordinator including delegating tasks.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
Risk, WHS, & Compliance
- Support the CEO in implementation and continuous improvement of WHS, risk, and compliance systems.
- Promote safe work practices, and effective organisational risk management.
- Coordinate organisational reporting, and compliance obligations.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in business, finance, HR, governance or related fields.
- Demonstrated leadership in corporate services, business operations, or similar roles.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving capability.
- Experience supporting budgeting, reporting, and organisational coordination activities.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with staff, executives, Boards, and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a broad, collaborative, and hands-on environment.
- Current driver’s licence.
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week), but alternative arrangements could be negotiated.
The position is employed under the Southern Gulf NRM standard terms and conditions of employment.
Rent Assistance.
Rent assistance of up to $5,200 per annum (pro‐rata) may be available to employees of Southern Gulf NRM under the relevant policy.
Relocation Assistance
Full or partial reimbursement of reasonable relocation expenses is available by agreement.
Leave
Five (5) weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading is available pro-rata. Up to 10 days study leave and negotiated financial assistance for approved relevant study pro-rata. Other leave provisions are detailed in Southern Gulf NRM Employee Policy Manual.
Superannuation
Payment of an amount equivalent to 12% of the employee’s salary to an eligible fund of the employee’s choice.
Vehicle
A vehicle will be available for work use when required.
Location
The position is in the Southern Gulf NRM office at Mount Isa.
Private Practice/Conflict of Interest
The successful applicant will not be permitted to engage in any trade, profession or business, which would conflict with the duties of his/her office. Potential employees must declare conflicts of interest prior to commencement and if any arises during employment.
