Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Pastry Cook who is based in our production facility. You will be involved in preparing high-quality and premium sweets and bread products for our customers.
The role is a full-time position with an attractive salary package.
In addition, the Pastrycook will need to have a strong understanding of hygiene and maintenance practices to ensure the kitchen remains safe, orderly, and sanitary.
Responsibilities
· Creating a range of artesian products, including: Panettone, Easter Colomba, Italian biscuits, Sfogliatella, Bombolini, Focaccia, Ciabatta;
· Preparing, mixing, kneading, shaping and baking a variety of breads, pastries, cakes and desserts in accordance with recipes and quality standards;
· Monitoring ingredient quality, accurately measure and weigh ingredients, and prepare fillings, creams and other pastry components;
· Operate bakery equipment and monitor baking temperatures and times to ensure consistent product quality;
· Decorate and present cakes, pastries and desserts using icing, glazes, cream and other finishing techniques;
· Maintain inventory levels, order supplies as required, and ensure proper storage and stock rotation of ingredients;
· Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations, including maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment;
· Cleaning, maintaining and preparing baking equipment, trays and work areas before and after production; and
· Assist in developing new recipes and pastry products to enhance menu offerings and meet customer demand.
Qualifications
To be considered for the role, you must have the following experience, knowledge and qualifications:
· A minimum of one year’ of relevant work experience. Past work experience of Italian products preparation will be highly regarded;
· A minimum Certificate III in Patisserie, and possibly a Diploma of Hospitality Management;
· Strong knowledge of a range of pastries and bread product;
· Strong culinary skills;
· Understanding of regulatory hygiene practices and standards;
· Ability to efficiently prepare a wide range of Italian pastries and breads;
· Confidence and experience to work both in a team and alone where required;
· Excellent communication, leadership and management skills, both written and
· verbal; and
· Strong commitment to leadership and guiding new staff members, if required.
