Airport Development Group (ADG) is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Safety to lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our organisation-wide safety framework. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Airports, this senior leadership role will play a critical part in strengthening our safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving best-practice health, safety and risk management outcomes across the business.
About the Role
As the Head of Safety, you will be responsible for designing and governing ADG’s safety management systems, policies, programs and assurance frameworks. You will partner closely with executive leaders, operational teams, contractors and industry stakeholders to embed a proactive, high-performing safety culture across all business units.
This role requires a strong strategic leader who can influence at all levels, provide expert WHS advice, and deliver practical solutions that enhance organisational safety performance.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and delivery of ADG’s health, safety and risk management strategy.

Foster a positive and mature safety culture across the organisation.

Develop, implement and maintain Safety Management Systems, policies, standards and frameworks.

Lead risk assessments, hazard identification processes and safety assurance activities.

Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action programs.

Provide expert advice to executives and business leaders on WHS legislation, compliance obligations and industry best practice.

Drive health and safety reporting, auditing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Manage contractor and supplier safety programs.

Support emergency preparedness, crisis management and injury management programs.

Represent ADG on industry and government committees and forums.

Monitor safety performance, compliance and organisational risk profiles.
About You
You are a highly credible safety professional with a proven track record in leading safety functions within complex operational environments. You combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach and have a passion for creating workplaces where safety is a core value.
Essential Requirements:

Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline.

Significant experience designing, implementing and leading safety management systems and programs.

Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, compliance requirements and risk management principles.

Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation, root cause analysis and safety reporting.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.

Proven ability to lead, coach and develop safety professionals and operational leaders.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Current Driver Licence.

Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and pass an Australian Federal Police Check.
Desirable:

Experience within aviation, airport operations, infrastructure, construction or facilities management environments.

Formal qualifications or certification in investigation methodologies, quality or safety systems.

Understanding of aviation industry safety requirements and operational environments.
