Casual Fascia & Gutter Worker – 3 to 4 Days Per Week
I’m looking for a reliable worker to help me with fascia and gutter work. The main reason I’m looking for someone is to help take some of the workload off me so I can get home earlier in the day for other commitments.
About the job
This will be a casual position, around 3–4 days per week for the rest of the year and into the new year. I can be flexible with which days you work, so we can work around your availability where possible.
Hopefully, this will go back to full-time work in the future. For now, I’m at a stage in life where I need to be home more, so I’m looking for someone who can work alongside me and help get the jobs finished earlier.
I subcontract to a large roofing company, so there will be plenty of ongoing work. Most jobs are on the north side, with the occasional south-side job.
The usual start time will be around 6:30am. At the moment, I’m doing the jobs myself and regularly working 10–14 hour days. The goal of bringing someone on is to work together, get the job done properly and efficiently, and hopefully be finishing around 12pm–2pm most days, depending on the job.
We finish when the job is done, although obviously some larger jobs can take longer.

A lot of roofing companies expect people to know everything within 8 weeks, but realistically, becoming genuinely fast and confident working on your own takes time. It can take 1–3 years to become really efficient at the trade.
I’m happy to teach you properly and help you build those skills over time.
What I’m looking for
You’ll need to be:
- Reliable and turn up when you say you will
- Hard-working and have a good attitude
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Comfortable moving scaffolding and materials
- Happy working outdoors in the sun and light rain
- Willing to learn and take direction
- Focused on doing quality work
You don't necessarily need to know everything already — attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are more important.
Requirements
You will need:
- White Card
- Steel-cap boots
- Safety glasses
- Appropriate PPE
- Ability to complete site inductions where required
There will be some builder inductions required for certain jobs. If you haven't done them before, I'm happy to walk you through the process.
For the right person, I’d be more than willing to look after you and help make the job easier. That includes helping out with things like tools, food and whatever else I reasonably can. If you’re someone who works hard, turns up and has a good attitude, I want to make sure you’re looked after.
