About the Opportunity
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our Nuclear and Capability Development (NCD) Business Unit, supporting the growth of ASC capabilities across both the Collins Class and Nuclear-Powered Submarine Programs.
In this role, you will support the delivery of business capability growth and enhancement initiatives, assisting in the coordination of cross-functional teams and contributing to the successful achievement of strategic objectives. The Assistant Project Manager plays an important role in enabling effective project execution across a diverse portfolio within the Nuclear and Capability Development (NCD) Business Unit.
Responsibilities
- Support the establishment and coordination of project teams to deliver strategic outcomes
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, plans, and budgets
- Contribute to the development and application of project management governance frameworks
- Support risk identification, schedule analysis, and mitigation activities
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress
- Maintain compliance with defence and safety standards
- Prepare project reports and updates for senior stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovative project delivery approaches
About you
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination or support roles within complex environments
- Understanding of project governance frameworks and processes
- Exposure to projects across areas such as supply chain, workforce, or technology (desirable)
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Primavera P6, Jira, Cobra) is advantageous
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage competing priorities
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a technical, engineering, or project management discipline (or working towards)
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
