About the Role
In this role, you will provide specialist technical expertise and strong project leadership to ensure the safe, compliant, and cost-effective management of a closed landfill site. You will play a key role in protecting environmental outcomes while delivering practical, forward-looking waste and resource recovery solutions.
This is a flexible, part-time opportunity (0.4 FTE – 2 days per week), offering genuine work-life balance while allowing you to make a tangible and lasting environmental impact in the local community. You will be joining a supportive and collaborative team culture where your expertise is valued and your contribution directly shapes positive environmental outcomes.
Key focus areas include:
- Leading the delivery of a revised EPA audit program and overseeing ongoing environmental compliance obligations
- Managing contractors and coordinating the operation and maintenance of key waste infrastructure sites
- Identifying and driving innovative waste diversion, recycling, and resource recovery initiatives
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and the local community to support transparent and effective environmental management
About the Successful Candidate
You are an experienced environmental professional who brings both technical capability and practical project leadership skills. You will also have:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in landfill management, waste operations, or environmental project delivery
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects from planning through to successful delivery
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence positive outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups
