Your role:
As an Ammunition Technician in the Army, you’ll play an integral role in supporting ground troops and their commanders, ensuring ammo is delivered to the right place at the right time, in a safe and usable manner.
Your duties include, but aren’t limited to:
- Perform ammunition accounting and receipt and issue transactions
- Perform ammunition handling including selecting, packaging and disposal of surplus or damaged stock
- Handle, store and distribute dangerous goods such as hazardous materials, ammunition and explosives
- Assist in the calculation of unit ammunition requirements and management
- Drive trucks up to medium rigid and operate forklifts
- Undertake general soldiering duties, such as manning defensive positions, patrolling, traffic control, camouflaging of vehicles, sighting of ammunition, and navigation.

Location:
Following your employment training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. In this military role, you’ll find yourself working in barracks or deployed on training exercises out field.
Salary:
In the Army you'll get paid a competitive salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $60,517 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.
On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $86,453 per annum plus generous super.
Eligibility:
For this role, you must:
- Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics

- Hold a provisional or full driver’s licence
- Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
