We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Business Risk & Control Officer (BRCO) to join our Business Finance team.
This role sits within the first line of defence and focuses on supporting the business to effectively identify, manage, and monitor risks within day-to-day operations, in close alignment with enterprise risk and compliance frameworks.
Working in a developing environment, you will play a key role in uplifting risk and control practices, improving processes, and embedding consistent ways of working across the business, while partnering closely with second line teams.

Business Risk & Control Officer.
In this role, you will support the business in managing risk as part of day-to-day decision making, ensuring that risk and control considerations are embedded into core Business Finance operations. You will work closely with stakeholders to strengthen and standardise control practices, helping to improve process efficiency while reducing operational risk.
You will contribute to the ongoing uplift of the organisation’s risk maturity by promoting greater awareness and accountability across business teams. Through thoughtful analysis and collaboration, you will help improve how risks are identified, understood, and managed, while maintaining strong alignment with enterprise risk and compliance frameworks and working in partnership with second line teams
What you will do:
- Design and implement controls across key business finance processes
- Identify risks and control gaps, and partner with stakeholders to embed sustainable solutions
- Perform control validation and assurance activities to confirm effectiveness
- Develop and maintain risk registers, control libraries, and supporting documentation
- Build dashboards and reporting to monitor control performance and emerging risks
- Track and drive remediation of control gaps and process improvements
- Embed risk awareness and accountability within business teams
- Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and risks
- Coordinate audit requests where required, ensuring efficient and consistent responses

- Experience in risk, controls, finance operations, or process improvement
- Understanding of operational risk practices and the three lines model (desirable)
- Ability to work collaboratively across business and risk teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- A proactive mindset with the ability to operate in an evolving environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
