The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 in Palliative Care plays a vital role in strengthening coordinated and integrated care across services, ensuring patients and families receive safe, compassionate, high-quality, person-centred care. Working collaboratively with patients, carers, families and multidisciplinary teams, the role supports the achievement of individual care goals and improved health outcomes.
The position also increases specialist palliative care support across the service, providing expert guidance to staff within the Triple I Hub, Community Health Nursing teams, and patients accessing the 1300 Palliative Care service seven days a week. Through enhanced collaboration and clinical expertise, this role helps deliver timely, responsive care for some of the District’s most vulnerable patients.

- Exercises extended autonomy of decision making, professional knowledge and judgment in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills.

- Actively participate in the support, teaching, coaching and development of others.
- Carry out nursing practice in accordance with legislation, common law, Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, the Australian Nursing Council Inc (ANCI) Code of Ethics Australia and take action to rectify any unsafe nursing practice or unprofessional behaviour in the workplace.
- Act in accordance with the NSW Health Code of Conduct and model the behaviours outlined in the Transforming Your Experience and Leadership Strategies.
- Demonstrates a high level of confidence and clinical proficiency in carrying out a range of procedures, treatments and interventions that are evidenced based and are within scope of clinical practice guidelinesand ability.
