As our project portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking experienced Site Leading Hands / Steel Installers to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals who take pride in their workmanship, lead by example, and want to grow with a rapidly expanding business.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager and Directors, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient installation of structural steel and associated construction works across a variety of commercial and industrial projects.
This position combines hands-on installation work with on-site leadership responsibilities, including coordinating crews, subcontractors, deliveries, and daily site activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Install structural steel and associated metalwork in accordance with drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret construction and shop drawings.
- Lead and coordinate site crews to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
- Conduct daily pre-start meetings and support toolbox talks.
- Coordinate deliveries, lifting operations, plant, equipment and site logistics.
- Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Assist with site planning and sequencing of works.
- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS requirements.
- Complete site documentation, inspections and reports as required.
- Liaise professionally with builders, supervisors, project managers and other trades.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in structural steel installation.
- Experience leading crews or acting as a Leading Hand (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong understanding of safe work practices and WHS requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Pay: $50.00 – $70.00 per hour
