About the Role
LB Wire Ropes is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician / Lift Equipment Inspection Engineer to join our Inspection and Testing Services (ITS) team based in Western Sydney.
This hands-on role combines engineering, inspection, testing and client interaction across a wide range of lifting and height safety equipment. You will work both in our workshop and on customer sites conducting inspections, load testing, certification, equipment assessments and technical support activities.
The role would suit someone with practical rigging or lifting equipment experience who also has strong technical capability and a proactive, safety-focused approach.
You will work closely with internal teams and customers to ensure lifting equipment and associated systems are inspected, tested and maintained in accordance with relevant Australian Standards. The role also provides opportunities to develop further technical competencies and industry certifications.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct inspections and testing of lifting and materials handling equipment in accordance with relevant Australian Standards.
· Inspect and test chain slings, wire rope slings, round slings, webbing slings, chain blocks, lever blocks, plate clamps and other lifting equipment.
· Perform load testing of lifting equipment including man cages, lifting jibs and engine hoists.
· Conduct inspections and testing of height safety systems and related equipment.
· Prepare inspection records, test certificates and professionally presented gear registers.
· Use inspection software and mobile devices to manage and track inspection activities.
· Coordinate inspection jobs and customer records through internal systems.
· Review customer lifting equipment requirements and provide practical technical guidance.
· Assist with quotations for replacement equipment, repairs and new supply opportunities.
· Maintain testing equipment, tools and workshop areas to a high standard.
· Participate in continuous improvement and contribute positively to the wider team environment.
About YouQualifications & Licences
· Current Class C Driver Licence
· Dogging and Advanced Rigging Ticket (High Risk Work Licence) OR LEEA qualifications
· Forklift Licence
· Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
· Construction White Card, Elevated Work Platform Ticket and First Aid desirable
· LEEA qualifications and/or lifting inspection experience desirable
Experience & Skills
· Experience within lifting, rigging, inspection, engineering, construction or industrial environments.
· Strong understanding of safe work practices and Australian Standards.
· Ability to work independently and manage inspections both onsite and in-house.
· Good communication and organisational skills.
· Competent using mobile applications, Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems.
· Practical problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail.
· Willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development.
