About the Role
The role falls within our Grid Connections service line which focusses on which focuses on supporting the successful connection of renewable generation, industrial power systems, and energy infrastructure projects across Australia. Our team provides specialist power systems studies, technical advisory services, and grid connection expertise to help clients navigate complex regulatory, technical, and commercial challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
The Grid Connections Team works closely with developers, investors, Network Service Providers (NSPs), and AEMO to deliver high-quality technical solutions that enable projects to progress from development through to energisation and commissioning. The team has a long-standing reputation for excellence in renewable energy grid connections and power systems engineering.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-calibre Principal Power Systems Engineer with expertise in power systems studies, grid connections, and renewable energy projects. This opportunity is suited to an experienced professional who is passionate about supporting Australia's energy transition and enjoys solving complex technical challenges.
Bringing a proven ability to interpret, apply, and develop innovative power systems solutions, you will lead the delivery of complex studies and connection strategies while providing technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will work closely with clients and stakeholders, oversee project delivery, contribute to business development activities, and support the growth of our market-leading energy advisory capability.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Extensive experience delivering power systems studies for renewable energy, industrial, or utility-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of grid connections within the National Electricity Market (NEM).
- Advanced experience with power systems modelling tools such as PSS®E, PowerFactory, or PSCAD.
- Demonstrated project management capability, including responsibility for technical quality, budgets, timelines, and delivery outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including experience working with developers, investors, NSPs, and AEMO.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- A collaborative approach with a passion for problem-solving and delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Experience publishing technical papers or research within the electrical engineering field will be highly regarded.
