Dirty Cat Studio is looking for a reliable and motivated Junior Videography Assistant for casual, ongoing work.
This role is ideal for someone wanting hands‑on experience in real-world filming environments — construction sites, residential developments, commercial training sessions, and documentary‑style observational filming.
You’ll work directly with the founder and learn how to operate compact camera systems, wireless microphones, and our streamlined filming workflow. After initial training, you’ll take ownership of filming sessions independently on client sites.
What You’ll Do
- On‑site filming for training videos and walkthroughs
- Operate compact gimbal cameras
- Capture stable footage of presenters and demonstrations
- Set up and manage wireless microphones
- Follow a structured filming workflow and shot list
- Manage basic file transfers
- Shadow the lead videographer and transition into independent filming days
- Assist with basic sales outreach and pipeline building, commission per won project
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently
- Good communication skills
- Able to follow instructions and learn quickly
- Comfortable in construction or commercial environments
- Basic camera/content knowledge (preferred but not required)
- Positive attitude and willingness to grow with the studio
Bonus Skills
- Experience with any gimbal camera
- Video editing in DaVinci Resolve
Quirky Requirement
- This job can involve a LOT of steps on filming days. Some days you’ll be climbing stairs and/or on your feet for hours. You’re the camera guy/girl — the real unsung hero. Other days are more relaxed: photography or sales outreach.
- you may need to work in a space that has cats... this is mainly an allergy warning.
Role Details
- Casual ongoing position
- 5 hours per week (more depending on project load)
- $30 per hour
- Extra hours available during busy filming weeks
- Training provided
- Immediate start (next week)
- Must be available Monday 17 August for shadowing (7-8Hday)
- Must be available for Tuesday 18 August and Wednesday 19 August (7-8H each day)
