We’re looking for someone who’s not just passionate about design and customer experience – but who’s ready to grow our presence, drive sales, and help shape what this showroom becomes.

The Role
As a Lighting Consultant, you’ll be the face of About Space in Canberra – supporting clients from first enquiry through to final fit-out. Whether it’s walk-ins, designers, or developers, you’ll guide clients through our product range and provide tailored lighting solutions with confidence and care.
This role blends creative consulting with a strong sales focus – and we're looking for someone who thrives on building client relationships and hitting targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales by proactively engaging with clients and uncovering their lighting needs
- Deliver expert advice and service across residential and commercial projects
- Build strong, ongoing relationships with customers, architects, designers, and builders
- Collaborate with the broader sales and design team to meet showroom goals
- Keep the showroom looking sharp, stocked, and on-brand
- Manage quotes, invoicing, and post-sale communication with attention to detail
- Stay across product updates, industry trends, and technical specs
- Assist with occasional manual handling and restocking — role requires physical capability to lift and move product safely
- Be comfortable using tools for basic fixture assembly, showroom setup, and minor product adjustments
What We’re Looking For
- A sales-driven mindset – someone who’s proactive, target-focused, and eager to grow our Canberra client base
- Proven experience in retail sales, interior design, or lighting is ideal – but attitude, curiosity, and initiative go a long way
- Strong people skills and the ability to build instant rapport with a range of clients
- Interest in design, interiors, or architecture with a willingness to learn the lighting side
- Physically capable of safely moving stock and assisting with showroom layout or minor installations
- Handy with tools and confident assisting with basic assembly or lighting display setup
- Confident using POS systems, quoting software, and managing customer pipelines
- A self-starter who thrives in a growing showroom environment
