About the role
We're looking for an experienced Accountant to join our finance team and take ownership of financial reporting, analysis and compliance across a fast-growing, multi-venue hospitality group. You'll examine venue and group performance, advise management on accounting policy, business structuring and financial risk, and provide assurance over the accuracy of financial reports across our entities — working closely with venue management, external auditors and group finance leadership. This is a professional accounting and advisory role, distinct from bookkeeping or accounts-processing functions.
Key duties
- Prepare financial statements and management reports for venue management, group leadership and governing bodies, and advise on budgetary and accounting policy across group entities
- Conduct financial investigations and analysis of venue and group trading performance, examining operating costs, income and expenditure, and oversee month-end and year-end reporting processes
- Maintain and strengthen internal control systems across venues, and provide assurance over the accuracy and statutory compliance of financial reports and cash flow position
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and other statutory/compliance obligations
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for individual venues and the group, and appraise cash flow and financial risk for venue acquisitions and capital investment projects
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents and financial institutions, and provide financial and taxation advice on business structures, venue operations and financing arrangements
- Advise on the selection, implementation and ongoing use of accounting information systems across venues, and support the CFO/Finance Manager with ad hoc financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant taxation legislation
Skills & experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- 1 year's relevant accounting experience, ideally in hospitality, retail or multi-site operations
- CPA / CA (or working towards) preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, GST/BAS and payroll tax obligations
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB) and advanced Excel skills
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with non-finance stakeholders across venues
Salary
75,000 – 85,000 plus superannuation
