The Senior Operational Architect provides expert technical leadership and ensuring architectural integrity for key customer accounts, particularly within Financial Services and Federal Government sectors. The role is responsible for designing, reviewing, and supporting complex technical solutions, customer proposals, bills of materials, and change requests, while coordinating architectural inputs throughout the solution lifecycle. Additionally the suitable candidate mentors a team of subject matter experts across networking, communications, cloud, and customer experience technologies, ensuring high-quality designs, costing, and risk management.
Your day to day will consist of
Provide architectural leadership and governance, ensuring design integrity across complex network and managed services environments while delivering expert technical advice and trusted guidance to customers and internal stakeholders.
Lead customer engagement and strategic advisory, acting as a trusted partner, understanding business needs, recommending technology strategies, and delivering exceptional customer outcomes through strong stakeholder relationships.
Design and deliver complex end-to-end solutions, including networking, voice, cloud, cyber, and managed services, with accountability for solution architecture, costing, risk assessment, and successful implementation.
Drive pre-sales and business growth initiatives, partnering closely with Sales to develop innovative, value-based solutions, support executive-level presentations, and identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
Provide senior technical leadership and operational support, mentoring architects and delivery teams while assisting with Level 3 escalations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of technical capabilities and solution standards.
Build strong internal partnerships and deliver commercial outcomes, fostering collaboration across Optus teams, maintaining industry and technology expertise, and contributing to revenue growth, profitability, and account performance targets
What makes you perfect for the role
Extensive senior architecture experience, with 7+ years in ICT and at least 3 years in pre-sales or embedded architecture roles, supporting enterprise and executive-level stakeholders.
Proven solution design expertise, including development of technical designs, bills of materials, proposals, change requests, and maintaining architectural integrity across complex managed services environments.
Deep technical knowledge across multiple technologies, particularly data networking, security, cloud, and operational toolsets.
Strong business and stakeholder management capabilities, with demonstrated experience in project coordination, vendor and third-party engagement, outsourcing environments, and presenting to both technical and executive audiences.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor teams, influence stakeholders, drive continuous improvement, challenge existing processes, and take ownership of outcomes.
Relevant qualifications and professional credentials, including tertiary qualifications in IT or Engineering, industry certifications (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Microsoft,) supported by a self-motivated and results-driven approach.
