You will join the specialist team of Geriatricians to deliver a holistic patient centered care. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team, in a brand new purpose build Geriatric Ward and learn from our highly skilled and dedicated Geriatric Specialists to ensure Hornsby’s continued grade ‘A’ rating in providing clinical excellence to the community.

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is a major metropolitan teaching hospital. Patients can access a range of services including coronary care, intensive care, orthopaedics, general medicine, surgical, obstetric, respiratory, rehabilitation, paediatric, maternity and emergency care. The hospital also provides a wide range of outpatient services including allied health, dental and podiatry clinics, child, adolescent and family health, drug and alcohol, health promotion and rehabilitation and aged care. An acute mental health service is co-located at Hornsby Hospital. The new $265 million Stage 2 redevelopment was officially opened in June 2022.

What you'll be doing
To provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
For the Advanced Trainee in Geriatric Medicine, there are now three roles for the equivalent of 3 X 1.0 FTE Advanced Trainees:

Acute in-patients - 4 months in ACE (Acute Care of the Elderly) working alongside general medical teams.

Community - 4 months in GRACE (Geriatric Rapid Acute Care Evaluation) working in acute geriatric outreach.

Orthogeriatrics - 4 months caring for elderly patients admitted under the Orthoapedic team.
There is also the opportunity to conduct supervised reviews in the Outpatient setting - memory clinic with ACE and Osteoporosis/Fracture Prevention Clinic with Orthogeriatrics.
