About Access Lifecare
Access Lifecare is a registered NDIS provider delivering Supported Independent Living, supported accommodation, daily living support, community participation and related disability services.
We support NDIS participants living in Supported Independent Living homes, group homes and supported residential accommodation. Our services are focused on promoting participant safety, dignity, independence, wellbeing and community participation.
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Care Officer to join our team and provide care and supervision to participants living in Access Lifecare’s SIL and supported accommodation services.
About the Role
As a Residential Care Officer, you will provide care, supervision and support to NDIS participants living in Supported Independent Living residences, group homes and other supported accommodation settings across Access Lifecare’s Canberra ACT and Queensland service locations.
You will assist residents with daily routines, personal development, support plans, community participation, behaviour support strategies and individual goals. You will work closely with participants, families, carers, Accommodation Managers, Support Coordinators, allied health professionals and other support staff to ensure residents receive safe, consistent and person-centred support.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for :
- Assessing residents’ needs, goals, risks and support requirements in consultation with participants, families, carers and relevant service providers.
- Assisting with the planning, development, implementation and review of individual support plans, care plans, training programs and behaviour support strategies.
- Supporting residents with daily living routines, personal development, social participation, community access and independence-building activities.
- Monitoring and reporting on residents’ wellbeing, behaviour, progress, safety and changing support needs.
- Maintaining accurate progress notes, incident reports, care records, behaviour observations and other service documentation.
- Assisting residents to develop and maintain independent living skills, household routines, personal care routines and positive community participation.
- Liaising with families, carers, Accommodation Managers, Support Coordinators, allied health professionals, community services and internal staff regarding resident support needs.
- Referring or escalating resident needs to appropriate community, welfare, health, housing, education and specialist support services where additional assistance is required.
- Supporting residents with physical, intellectual, psychosocial, social or emotional disabilities in a safe, respectful and stable residential environment.
- Responding appropriately to incidents, risks, behavioural concerns and safeguarding matters in accordance with Access Lifecare policies and NDIS requirements.
- Ensuring support is delivered in accordance with participant NDIS plans, Access Lifecare procedures, NDIS Practice Standards, privacy obligations, WHS requirements and relevant legislation.
What We’re Looking For
The successful applicant should have:
- A Diploma in Community Services, Disability, Residential Care or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least one year of experience in residential care, disability support, supported accommodation, SIL services or community services.
- Experience supporting people with physical, intellectual, psychosocial, social or emotional disabilities.
- Strong communication, documentation and reporting skills.
- Understanding of NDIS service delivery, participant dignity, choice and control, safeguarding and person-centred practice.
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally with residents, families, carers and support professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a supported residential care environment.
- Current Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check, National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Registration, or ability to obtain them.
- First Aid and Manual Handling certificates, or willingness to obtain them.
