Position Overview:
Xtend Health Pty Ltd is seeking a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to support the delivery of client-focused therapy programs under the supervision of qualified Occupational Therapists. This community-based role involves working with individuals across various age groups—particularly children and NDIS participants—to enhance daily living skills and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Support:
- Implement therapy programs developed and supervised by an Occupational Therapist
- Support clients in achieving goals related to self-care, play, education, and community participation
- Assist with functional skill-building such as motor development, sensory processing, and adaptive strategies
- Record and report on client progress and session observations to supervising OT
Administrative Tasks:
- Prepare therapy materials and assist with setting up for sessions
- Maintain accurate client documentation, session notes, and scheduling in clinic software
- Assist in organising home visit appointments and therapy reports
Operational Duties:
- Drive to and attend community-based appointments (home, school, daycare, etc.)
- Follow safety and infection control protocols in all settings
- Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and other service providers
About You:
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance with experience in this industry
- Occupational Therapy Student
- Overseas trained OT
- Experience or strong interest in paediatrics and/or disability support
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observational skills
- Basic understanding of occupational therapy principles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Current Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and Police Check
Desirable (not essential):
- Previous experience with NDIS clients
- Female Preferred
- Exposure to therapy documentation and booking systems Preferred Splose (e.g., Halaxy, Cliniko, )
- Basic knowledge of sensory processing and developmental milestones
- Early childhood teachers can also apply for the role
