Full-time, Permanent and Hybrid Working
The Senior Counsellor provides clinical leadership and day-to-day support to student counsellors within the Australian Counselling Service Clinic. This full-time, ongoing role ensures high standards of client care, student learning and operational efficiency, enabling the Practice Managers to focus on overarching administration, compliance and marketing functions.
In this role you will:

Provide clinical leadership and supervision to student counsellors, offering mentoring, guidance, case consultation and support for reflective practice.

Support the professional development of emerging practitioners through coaching, feedback, case reviews and informal training activities.

Ensure high-quality client care by promoting ethical, professional and evidence-informed counselling practices within the clinic.

Monitor and manage clinical and student-related issues, identifying risks and escalating complex matters when required.

Act as a key operational support resource, assisting with day-to-day clinic coordination, scheduling queries and continuous improvement initiatives.

Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment, maintaining confidentiality, professional standards and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Qualifications

At least a bachelor’s level qualification in counselling, social work or psychology.

Minimum three years’ work experience as a practicing counsellor, social worker or psychologist.

Strong ability to mentor, guide and support emerging practitioners.

Knowledge of clinical placement requirements in educational settings.

Membership (or eligibility for membership) of a relevant industry association.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills including an ability to motivate and work as part of a team.

Experience with stakeholder and industry engagement, specifically liaison with other professional organisations and community groups.

Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and ethical practice principles and demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements relevant to the clinic environment.
