Key Accountabilities:
- Aluminium Vessel Fabrication & Assembly: Lay out, cut, form, fit and assemble aluminium hulls, decks, transoms, cabins, consoles, bulkheads and structural components for small to medium sized fishing vessels using drawings, jigs, templates and approved work instructions.
- Aluminium Welding & Joining: Carry out high-quality aluminium welding, primarily MIG and TIG, with attention to weld preparation, distortion control, penetration, appearance and compliance with project quality requirements.
- Marine Fit-Out Support: Fabricate and install vessel components such as seat boxes, bait boards, rails, hatches, tanks, brackets, steps, swim platforms and other aluminium fittings to suit fishing vessel layouts and customer requirements.
Safety, Quality & Housekeeping: Work safely in a busy shipyard environment, follow hot-work and lifting controls, maintain clean work areas, complete quality checks, and contribute to a strong “make it happen safely” team culture.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
Essential
- Trade Qualification: Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, Sheetmetal Trade, or equivalent experience in aluminium fabrication, marine fabrication or boat building.
- Aluminium Fabrication Experience: Proven ability to read workshop drawings, accurately measure and mark out work, cut and form aluminium plate and extrusion, and assemble components to tight tolerances.
- Marine Vessel Experience: Experience manufacturing, modifying or repairing small to medium sized aluminium fishing vessels, workboats, recreational boats or similar marine craft.
- Construction industry white card.
- Service-oriented team player with a “make it happen safely” attitude.
Desirable
- Strong aluminium MIG and/or TIG welding capability, with experience producing clean, consistent welds suitable for marine applications.
- Experience fabricating aluminium hull structures, consoles, cabins, hardtops, rails, tanks and fishing vessel fit-out components.
Current welding tickets, marine industry experience, forklift, dogging, rigging, EWP or working at heights qualifications will be highly regarded.
