MatchWorks is looking for an Indigenous Employment Consultant who’s passionate about supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to reach their employment goals and build strong futures for themselves, their families, and community.
In this role, you’ll build genuine relationships with participants, taking the time to understand their story, strengths, and what matters most to them, while respecting culture, identity, and connection to Country.
You’ll provide culturally safe, strengths-based support whilst helping people build confidence, grow their skills, and connect with meaningful job opportunities that feel right for them.
What you’ll do
As an Indigenous Employment Consultant in our Workforce Australia team, you’ll:
- Provide holistic support and guidance to clients, helping them navigate both work-related and personal challenges in a culturally safe way.
- Mentor and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants, fostering confidence, connection, and pathways to meaningful employment.
- Strengthen community and employer relationships, promoting opportunities for clients while celebrating local Aboriginal cultures and contributions.
- Deliver the Deadly Yakka program, sharing cultural knowledge and raising awareness among employers to create respectful, inclusive workplaces.
What you’ll bring
- An understanding of Indigenous protocols and culture, with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the issues and barriers facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Participants
- Strong communications skills, and the ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders
- Well-organised approach to providing individualised services
- Proven ability to manage time and workloads effectively to business priorities in a changing environment
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
(You’ll also need an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate – but don’t worry, we’ll help guide you through this.)
Bonus points for
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Participants
- Experience in a customer service, recruitment or employment consultancy setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
