Located in the heart of Western Sydney, Sydney Zoo strives to showcase a broad range of native and exotic animals using technology and advanced exhibit design, with a strong focus on animal welfare, conservation, and educating our visitors about animals and their habitats. The Position
At Sydney Zoo we are aiming to bring Mascots and characters to life. Our mission is to deliver a world class guest experience that encourages the community to make a difference. Our Suit Wearers are responsible for creating magical interactions with visitors at Sydney Zoo and to provide outstanding customer service within the Admissions and Ticketing areas of the zoo.
Sydney Zoo is open every day of the year and this position will require the successful candidate to work some weekends and public holidays. This is a fixed term position through to the end of January 2027.
Skills, Knowledge, and Relevant Experience
ESSENTIAL
- Current and valid Working With Children Check
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of suits including height and other physical restrictions.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to perform in a full-body costume for periods of time with rests between.
- Excellent non-verbal communication skills and the ability to convey emotion through movement.
- Comfort performing in front of large crowds and interacting with the public.
- A team-player mindset with professionalism and reliability.
- Experience in performing arts, dance, physical theatre (highly regarded but not essential).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team to deliver outstanding results.
- Outgoing, confident and friendly personality.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and initiative to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Knowledge and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety and Equal Employment Opportunity.
- Legal working rights in Australia.
DESIRED
- Valid and current driver’s license.
- Experience in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
